Public Access Computers - Rules

All users must sign in.
Time Limits:
Computer #1 -- 15 minutes.
No advance bookings.
Computers #2 - #5 -- 1 hour.
Sessions may be booked one day in advance.
Word Processing/CD-ROM station -- 1 hour.
Sessions may be booked one day in advance.

Maximum two persons/per computer.
Maximum reserved time per day per person is one hour!

Public Access Computers - Policy

1) The public acces computers (PACs) are available free of charge for the use of library members and visitors during library operating hours.

2) Patrons must sign in beside their start time for a maximum of one hour per day. Computers 2 - 5 can be pre-booked up to one day in advance. There is no pre-booking on computer #1. Users returning to computer #1 must wait one hour between sessions to ensure others have equal access. Pre-booking may be made in person or by phone. Staff may adjust the times--as deemed necessary--to encourage maximum use by patrons. The word processing computer may be used for more than one hour on a given day if no other patrons are waiting for it.

3) Staff may provide patrons with Internet, word processing, and CD-ROM instruction as time and resources permit.

4) A charge will be made for printing. ($.25 per page)

5) Only library-owned programmes may be run on the PACs.

6) Patrons who wish to download files may purchase disks at the circulation desk.

7) Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring material accessed by children. The library Board and staff assume no responsibility for the type of material found on the Internet by children or adults.

8) There are no restrictions on the type of information that may be accessed or posted through the PACs with the exception of material that could be considered illegal. this includes accessing or transmitting unlawful, threatening, abusive, libellous, defamatory, or obscene material.

9) Patrons who use the word processing programme will print their documents at least 15 minutes before closing time.

10) Patrons will be held responsible for any damage to or loss of computer parts, disks, or manuals during their use of them.

11) Failure to use PACs appropriately and responsibly may result in the recovation of PAC use privileges.
